About us.
We are a small engineering team in the UK. We work on the part of a business that decides whether a machine can describe it correctly: the facts underneath, the places those facts are published, and whether they all still agree with one another.
We kept meeting the same problem.
Almost every business we spoke to had been sold something at the surface. A new website, a dashboard, and more recently something with AI in the name. Underneath it, the same two things were usually true. Nobody had written down how the work actually happened, and nobody entirely trusted the numbers.
The name is a plain description of how we answer that. Three layers, stacked. The visual layer is what people see, and it is the only one most firms are ever sold. The business layer is how the work actually happens, including the quiet workarounds nobody wrote down. The data layer is what all of it rests on. We work upwards from the bottom, which takes longer to begin and is the only order that holds.
What changed recently is who is reading. A model assembling an answer has no patience for a page it has to interpret, and it will not repeat a fact it cannot corroborate somewhere else. That turned out to be the same problem we had been working on all along, arriving from a different direction, so we adopted a specification for it rather than adding another service to a list.
Businesses of every size, held to the standards of the strictest one.
Our habits come from regulated finance, where a wrong number is expensive and somebody has to be able to explain how it was arrived at. Aubay is our founding client, and we are partnering with a small number of financial and technology firms as we grow. That work is also where the method comes from: holding one canonical set of facts, publishing it to many destinations, and checking them against each other for drift is a data pipeline, and it is the hardest part of what we now do for local businesses.
Those habits do not belong only to banks. A sole trader deserves the same clarity about what has been built for them, and the same freedom to take it elsewhere. We are glad to work with businesses at any size, and we will say so honestly if we are not the right people for what you need.
The people who
actually do the work.
No account managers, no hand-offs. You work directly with the people building your data infrastructure, from the first call to final delivery.

Ali has spent his career in and around regulated finance, building the pipelines and migrations that other people’s reporting quietly depends on. He takes the first call, and he is still there at the end of the build.

Florian is responsible for how the work looks and how it feels to use. He is the one asking, patiently and repeatedly, whether the person on the other side of the screen would actually understand this.
Three things that are
actually checkable.
Built on data work, not marketing
Pipelines, migration off legacy platforms and reporting layers for banks and financial institutions. The standards come from an industry where a wrong number is a regulatory problem, not a bad week. The prior work is still on this site.
You talk to the people doing the work
No account managers and no junior team swapped in once the contract is signed. The two people above are the people on the call and the people doing the build.
No lock-in, in writing
Your domain in your name from day one, your data yours to take, and a published list of things you can hold us to. If we stop being good, leaving is easy, and that is deliberate.
We keep a short list of the things we would want to be held to.
It covers what we charge and why, what happens to the work once we are gone, and who you actually speak to along the way. None of it is remarkable. We would simply rather write it down than ask you to take it on trust.
