Values

What you can hold us to.

The commitments we make on cost, ownership, and accountability. They are written down so you can measure us against them, at the end of a project and in every month in between.

  1. We learn how the business actually runs before we change it.

Every organisation runs on logic that nobody has written down: the exceptions, the workarounds, and the reasons a process is the shape it is. Missing that is the usual reason a build overruns. So we ask a great many questions early, and we keep asking them long after the scope has been agreed, because the first answer is rarely the one worth building on.

  2. You stay in the room, and in control of the scope.

You understand your business in ways we never will, and we understand the systems underneath in ways you should not have to. The decisions worth making sit where those two meet, so we make them with you present, in the week they come up. Nothing disappears for six weeks and returns finished, expensive, and slightly wrong.

  3. Our rates reflect what a build costs now, not what it cost three years ago.

AI has genuinely made parts of this work faster. We think the person paying for it should feel that, not only the people doing it. What you are buying is judgement: the decisions about what to build, what to leave alone, and what will still hold in three years. That has not become cheaper. The hours around it have, and they come off your quote rather than onto our margin.

  4. Everything we build is yours, including the right to leave.

Clear code, documentation written in plain language, and no quiet dependency on us. If you outgrow us, or simply decide to go elsewhere, another team should be able to pick it up without a rescue project first. Lock-in is a commercial strategy, not an engineering outcome. We would rather be chosen each year than relied upon.

  5. You hear the bad news from us first.

The figures illustrated on this site are labelled as illustrations, because that is what they are. We say what we do not yet know, we put a date on when we will know it, and we tell you when something has slipped before you have to ask. A project is far easier to defend upwards when nothing in it is a surprise.

  6. The people who pitch are the people who build.

There is nothing between you and the engineering. The person on the first call is the person writing the code, and they stay until it is finished. No handover to a team you have not met, and no quieter, cheaper one introduced once the contract is signed.

  7. We would rather your team did not need to call us.

The aim was never to be indispensable. It is that your own people end up understanding what we built well enough to change it, explain it, and answer for it. When a board, an auditor, or simply a new starter asks who owns this, the answer should be a name inside your organisation.

If you would like to see what this looks like in practice, the way we think about a business is set out in the specification, and the story of how we got here is on the about page. If anything here ever stops matching your experience of working with us, we would rather hear it early.

Hold us to it.

If that is how you would want a supplier to work, tell us what you are dealing with. Thirty minutes, an honest answer about whether we are the right people, and nothing to sign.
