One open role,
described honestly.
We are looking for self-employed salespeople to sell websites and digital work to businesses in the cities we cover. It is commission only. That is the first thing worth knowing, so it is the first thing written down.
Self-employed sales partner
You find and close local businesses that need a website, a booking system, or the digital work around them. We build it, support it, and invoice it. You take a percentage of what you bring in, on the project fee and on the recurring fee that follows it, for as long as that client stays with us.
The commission rate is agreed with you before you start, in writing, and it does not change afterwards without your agreement. We will tell you the number on the first call rather than making you ask for it.
Four things, and the first one sells itself.
Websites that are actually finished
A fast, well-built site with the content loaded, the forms working, and no monthly charge for editing your own text. This is the easiest thing to sell in the list, because most local firms have been burned on it once already.
Booking and enquiry systems
Booking that writes to something real rather than an inbox, with reminders and a record the owner can look at. Strong with clinics, trades, salons, garages, and anyone currently running a paper diary.
Chatbots and review collection
Answering the same nine questions automatically, and getting Google reviews asked for consistently rather than when someone remembers. Small ticket, quick to close, and it opens the door to the larger work.
The bigger data work, when you spot it
If a conversation turns out to be about a broken reporting process or an ageing system rather than a website, hand it to us. Those are our largest projects, and you are paid on them the same way.
Pick a city, or bring your own.
We have pages for the six cities we get asked about most. You are welcome to work any of them, and welcome to work somewhere else entirely if that is where your contacts are. We do not carve up territories or stop you calling anyone.
The parts most listings leave out.
We would rather lose your application here than three months in.
There is no base pay.
None. If you sell nothing in a month you earn nothing in that month, and we would rather you knew that from the first line than found it in a footnote. If you need predictable income right now, this is the wrong role and we will say so on the call.
You are self-employed.
You invoice us for commission earned, and you are responsible for your own tax and National Insurance. You set your own hours and work as much or as little as you want. We are not your employer and this listing is not an employment contract.
We are a small firm, not a brand.
Layer Digital is young. Aubay is our founding client and we are honest on the website about what is illustration and what is evidence. You will be selling on the strength of the work and your own relationships, not on a name people already know.
We would rather you sold less, honestly.
Do not promise a date we have not agreed, or a feature we have not built. If you are not sure whether we can do something, ask us. A deal we have to unwind costs everyone more than the one you did not close.
People who already know the room.
This works best for someone who is already talking to small business owners for a living, or who has done agency sales and would rather keep the margin. You do not need to be technical. You need to be able to hold a conversation with an owner about what is costing them time, and to know when to stop selling and hand it to us.
It also suits someone doing this alongside something else. There is no minimum, no rota, and nobody counting your calls. If you close one good project a month around other work, that is a perfectly reasonable way to use this.
Interested?
Send us a short note about what you have sold before and which city you would work. No CV needed, and no form to fill in. We reply to everyone.
Email hello@layerdigital.ukIf you would rather talk first, the same thirty-minute call we offer clients is open to you. Ask anything, including the commission rate.
